Thanksgiving

Here is a fun banner that I made to hang for our family Thanksgiving Celebration as well as for this weeks challenge at Little Scraps of Heaven Designs.

The first and last part of the border holds 5 tags that will be used for writing down what we are thankful for this year.

For this banner I used the following items:
2. Give Thanks Pocket from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs
5. Twine from Trendy Twine in Orange Truffle
6. Liquid Pearls by Ranger ink
7. Misc. ribbons and flowers

Back to school

Well, this is a truly emotional year for me.
My oldest son is starting Kindergarten and my youngest son is starting Preschool.
I thought I'd be jumping for joy, but turns out I'm pretty emotional about the whole thing.

It's not like I'm going to get the 'me' time I thought .. and I'll be bored.  Turns out that on the days that Preschool inter-laps with Kindergarten I'll pretty much be back and forth in the car with maybe an hour an a half to myself ... just think grocery shopping and small errands by myself. :)

In anticipation of school starting later this week I've created a banner to celebrate that first day.  My plan is to have my kids stand with the border holding the sign that states what grade they are starting.  I used "First day of School" so I could use this banner every year and just make a new sign for them to hold.

I hope you enjoy my project for today.

To create the banner I've used the following paper piecing pattern files from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs:

I've also used:
Trendy Twine in chocolate truffle
Misc. Ribbons from Michaels
American Crafts solid papers
Pearl accents from Want 2 Scrap

Thanks for stopping by today!

Spring Banner

Today is Friday, and do you know what Friday is?

It's the Little Scraps of Heaven Design team challenge!

I was looking forward to this challenge all week.  I had my project planned out in my head.  I was going to get it completed early, and it was going to be so fabulous.  Well, we ended up having a busy week (so having the plan in my head helped .. not to mention having the products I needed on hand), I started it Thursday night at 10pm (since my one year old is teething and decided he WOULD NOT go to sleep until completely exhausted at 9:45pm), and I DO think it looks pretty great for a late night project :)

The project of the week was to simply create something that was NOT a card, NOT a layout, NOT an album, or NOT a paper piecing item.

Here is my project:

In a perfect world, I'd have beautiful fresh flowers on each side of my hearth:

Perhaps some unique handmade pottery items:

and maybe a beautiful white lounge chair

But my REAL world looks like this.

A curious look

determines that he needs to take one more look (a closer look)

as he takes the closer look he realizes that this banner is in the way of his "performances" as he often uses the hearth as a stage.

And when one climbs up ....

the other MUST follow!

This is my life!  It's not perfect, but I love it!

Now, here are some close ups of the banner

For the banner I used two separate files from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs
- Noah's art collection for the bird
- Daisy potted plant (Note that this is the current FREEBIE)

I hope that you've enjoyed my weekly design team challenge.   YOU TOO can enter on the Little Scraps of Heaven FaceBook Fanpage!
