A winner, a project, and a tip too

Good evening all.  I hope that you have been having a great week ... and to think the weekend is peeking at us right around the corner.  I know that I'm happy to have it visit us.

I have a few things to share with you all today.  Please bear with me, and take this as a warning, that this might become a bit of a lengthy post.

FIRST OF ALL,

I would like to thank everyone so very much for participating with me in the Oh Baby! blog hop that occurred recently.  There's nothing like making an adorable item to display cherished memories in and I'm so happy I was able to participate.

Now ... Remember Day 3 of the hop when I mentioned my project was not the one that I had originally planned?  Well, I really had hoped to do a Noah's ark themed page and my mind was just NOT going to let me move onto any other projects until I completed that one ... so here is the completed Noah's ark page that I made.  It is now listed on ebay if you are interested.... click HERE.

Now, for the last and final part of my post tonight ....

If you are a fan of Little Scraps of Heaven Designs on Facebook you may be aware that I promised to share how I come up with some of my detailed layouts where I use multiple patterns.  Well, this is my method .. keep in mind that we all work differently and this may not be the best way for you, but it works well for me.

STEP 1:  Pull out my 'mighty' binder.  This is the binder that holds a 4x6 picture of most of my paper piecing pattern sets.  Notice, I did not say 'all' as I'm still trying to figure out how many binders I would actually need for that :)  It does take some time (and not to mention the ink, oh the ink) to print out your patterns, but for me this works wonders.  I am SUCH a visual person, and I love to actually be able to flip through a book, rather than files on my compter (again, just me).

I just love these page dividers!  They (along with the book pictured) are by We R Memory Keepers and I can NOT ramble on about them more.  Such a great organizational  tool.

STEP 2: At this point I simply flip through the book to find something that inspires me.  Once I find something I pull that pattern picture out of the book, and continue flipping, looking, and thinking of a layout.  I then pull out pictures from other patterns that I may want to add.

And from here is where I go about sketching out my layout.  Now, I do not have a picture of that, as I typically do that in my head.... although I keep telling myself I need to write these things down on actual paper.  Sometimes the craziness of life gets in the way and I "lose" what I had sketched :)
