Happy Mother's Day

Well .. it's here ...

The day the Design team shares their challenge projects with you all!

This month at Trendy Twine, the new challenge recipe is
(1) The color Kraft
(2) Trendy Twine

This month we are showcasing the "Teals" over at Trendy Twine.

For my project I have used Twisted Teal.  It's such a pretty color and I really loved how it popped with the Kraft.

I've created a tag for Mother's Day.  This could go on a bouquet of flowers, a package or even a card.

You can grab the teal's on sale now in the Trendy Twine Store .. click HERE for the May specials.
Grab 'em why you can :)

I've used the following items to create this project:
~ Trendy Twine ~ Twisted Teal
~ American Crafts cardstock

Teacher Appreciation Week

Good morning everyone!

Today I'd like to share with you a fun project that I've made for one of my son's teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week.

We are blessed to have three fantastic teachers this year and it only brings me joy to create something for them!

Today's post is about my first creation .. a small notepad with a fun matching pen.

I thought the notepad could easily fit in even a small purse, or sit on a desk to jot down some reminders or a to do list.

I used the following products to create this gift:
~ Patterned paper from DCWV ~ Grade School stack
~ Washi Tape
~ Misc. ribbon

Thanks so much for stopping by today.
I hope that this has inspired you to make something fabulous to say "THANKS" to all your favorite teachers.  They all work so hard .. for OUR children .. it's the least we can do.

PS .. If you LOVE twine as much as I do .. check out the Trendy Twine Store and pick some up!  Lemon Tart is even on sale .. but it ends soon .. so grab it fast!

New years eve celebration

I hope everyone is gearing up for a fun New Year's Eve!

My family is more of a stay-in kinda family rather than hitting the town.  We plan on ordering take out and then making some yummy homemade carmel popcorn in the evening.   We may even get crazy and go and see a movie in the early afternoon .... TALK about CRAZY! :)

Be sure to stop by the Little Scraps of Heaven Design team blog to see all the fabulous project my fellow teammates have shared for you on this fabulous Monday.  We'd love to see any wonderful creations that you have made this week to kick off the New Year.  Be sure to share them on the Little Scraps of Heaven Facebook Fanpage.  Also, be on the lookout because next week the LSHD DT is kicking off our challenges again.  There will be layout sketch challenges, card sketchs and much more.  Remember that you can't win if you don't enter!  I hope to see all of your creations soon!

To close out 2012 I've created this fun little New Year's Celebration card.

Lego Card

Pinterest is totally inspiring!

There are so many talent crafters, bakers, chefs out there that I would never have stumbled upon if it had not been for pinterest.

I've already tried countless recipes, a handful of crafts, used some storage organizing ideas and LOADS of homemade cleaners for around the home!

I have to say I have loved almost each and every item that I've actually tried..... and have I mentioned that I have thousands of things to try on my to do list?  :)

Today my post is a project that I created that I stumbled upon from Pinterest.
It was last minute and I realized I wanted to make a card for a birthday party that my son's were invited too.   The little boy was turning 5 ... and hey, what better way to celebrate than to make him a fantastic card?

Well .. if you know me .. and have seen my layouts  .. you know that they can get a bit ... ahem .. detailed.  I just did not have the time for that today .. it had to be quick, it had to be cute, and it had to be easy.

A quick search on Pinterest brought me to HERE.  It's an image that someone posted on Splitcoaststampers.com.  I wish I could point you to the original artist's blog .. but unfortunately this link will have to do as I could not find any other way to credit the original person.

And HERE is the SUPER fast, SUPER cute, SUPER easy card that I threw together.  Start to finish was maybe 15-20 minutes ... not bad for me.

I hope that this inspires you to throw something handmade together for those you love ... even if it is last minute.

For this project I used the following:
1. Pinterest link!
4. Twine from Trendy Twine in Peppermint Stick

I'm blessed with having family in town for the holiday and I'm looking forward to going all out .. Turkey, Ham, all the fixin's ... I am sure that there will be a ton of leftovers but I'll have fun making (and enjoying every morsel) it from scratch.

To prepare for the Holiday I've made this super cute layout that can be used to capture the wonderful memories that you are about to make.

To create this layout I've used the following items.

ATC Card challenge

It's Monday .. and that means a new challenge is up at Little Scraps of Heaven Designs.
Challenges are good for me .. it gets me thinking outside the little box that I have going on in my head that says cards, layouts, cards, layouts, cards, layouts .. you get it.

A challenge always inspires me even if it can be frustrating or intimidating.

A while back .. gosh, probably a year or more .. we had an ATC swap challenge over at LSHD.  I freaked out about it ... working with such a small space (2 1/2 inches x 3 1/2 inches) was VERY intimidating to me .. especially when I needed to include a paper piecing on it.  I really had a lot of fun with that challenge.... so much .... that I suggested this challenge for this week!  :)

HERE is a good link to learn about Artist Trading Cards (ATC).

Here are 3 ATC's that I've created for this week.
You can find all the details on this challenge, as always, on the DT blog HERE.

Here are some close ups of each of the cards:

I am really happy on how each of these turned out.
I actually broke into a pack of paper that I've been hoarding for that 'perfect' paper to create these.  I'll admit it .. that as I was cutting these tiny pieces from a large 12x12 paper I was having a bit of a heart attack .. eek!  But .. I have never been happier with the results and I DO NOT regret breaking through that plastic wrapping at all!  :)

Now ... anyone want to swap with me?  I'd love to actually swap these.  Let me know by sending me an email at designsthatdelight@gmail.com!!

For this project I used the following products:
1. Paper pack from Three Bugs in a Rug - "Blast Off"
2. Paper piecing patterns from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs - "To the Moon"
3. Trendy twine - "Lemon Tart"
4. Misc. Clearsnap Colorbox chalk inks
6. Rhinestones from Want2Scrap

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope to see you on the LSHD FB page participating in our challenge this week.

Sketch Challenge at Little Scraps of Heaven Designs

Ok, I'll admit it ...
....
Are you listening?
...

I really love sketch challenges lately!   I really do!!
How do you feel about sketches?

It really gets me going if I'm in a rut ... if I'm in a rush .. or even if I'm overwhelmed with too many ideas in my head (which happens often).  I love how you can take someones sketch and make it your own.  That no matter what ... two people are always going to interpret the sketch differently and come out with layouts that are dramatically different!  Neat!!!

This week there is a new sketch challenge over at Little Scraps of Heaven's Design team blog.  I hope that you'll consider hopping over there and playing along with us.  There's always a chance for some fabulous files from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs ... who doesn't like a bit of cuteness with their layouts?

Here is my take on the sketch:

This is a layout that I made for a fan of my facebook page, Lisa Pontious at HoneyBearz Designs.  Lisa won a layout of mine JUST for being a fan!   This is the second time I've given away a full page layout.   I've had positive feedback from the winners and think that this is something that I'd like to continue to do with my giveways!

If you have any interest in having me create you a personal one (or two) page layout ... send me an email and we can discuss pricing based upon you're level of details.  I'd love to capture some of your special memories!   I can be reached at any time at designsthatdelight@gmail.com.

For this layout I used the following items:
3. Patterned paper from "The Lodge" paper stack from DCWV
4. Solid papers by American Crafts
6.  Natural twine

Don't forget to join us at the LSHD DT blog to join in on the challenge!

Fall Greetings

Well, it's that time of year when the weather gets crisp, we pull out the jeans and sweaters (and socks!) and prepare for pumpkin carving, corn mazes and apple eating :)

Here in Seattle the morning and evenings are crisp, but we are having some really fantastic sunny, warm days!  I am loving every second of it!

To kick off the Season I made a fun card for the latest Little Scraps of Heaven Designs Design Team challenge.  This week it the challenge it to use something old.  You can get all the details on the challenge HERE.

I admit it ... I really struggled with this ... you know how we crafters are ... we have LOADS of stuff (Me included) in our stash.  I made the effort .. I flipped through my old papers, looked through old old stickers and embellishments ... but I just COULD NOT get inspired :(   I hate to do projects just to do them.  I need an inspiration to motivate me .... then it hit me .... MY something old could be one of the OLDEST patterns sets that I had that was made by LSHD!

SO .... here it its .... It's a simple crow.  SO cute .. but simple.  I chose to take this little guy and turn him into a fun fall card.

As I searched and searched I could not find this poor little crow on the website ... so it must be really old!  My file was dated August of 2009.

Here is a cute pic of what the file looked like

And here is how I jazzed this crow up for our weekly challenge:

For this card I used:
- Past freebie Crow from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs (sorry, the design is no longer available for sale)
- Really old glitter ribbon

Thanks for stopping by today!
I hope you'll join in on our challenge this week!
