Emily's Back to the 80's Birthday Blog hop

Welcome to Emily's Back to the 80's Birthday Blog Hop!!!

Happy Birthday Emily!
I am so honored to be a part of your birthday hop today!

I hope that your day is full of love, joy and whatever else makes you happy!

If you have arrived here from Sarah's blog, you are in the right spot!
If not, please head back to Emily's blog to get started.

Here is the entire lineup in case you get lost along the way.

Julie Ranae

For my project today, I decided to first see what characters or things from the 80's that Emily liked most. This is of course, her hop, and I wanted my project to directly relate to something that would make her smile. Well, Emily informed me that she LOVED Rainbow Brite as a little girl..... and who wouldn't??? A cute girly girl character with LOTS of color!

Happy Birthday Emily!

I hope that you enjoy this birthday card that I made especially for you.

For this card I pulled out my copics (I only have a handful of colors, but luckily I had what I felt was needed for little Miss Rainbow).  I found a cute Rainbow Brite coloring page which I sized down and printed on my curious metallic paper.  My Birthday Celebration Stack from DCWV really jumped out at me to coordinate with the coloring of the images.  Lastly, I accented with some red and white bakers twine to give the illusion of sunshine streaming down on her  .. cute, huh?

I'm so happy you stopped by today.  Don't forget to stop by everyones blog for their fantastic creations and many chances at different blog candy!

I'm offering a bit of candy myself.  Leave me a comment and follow my blog for a chance at winning a scrapbook kit which will contain solid and coordinating pattern pappers, ribbons, and embellishments.

If you'd like to stop by my FACEBOOK page, I'd love for you to join me there too ... however, this is not a requirement.

Now, head on over to Kathy's blog to see what she has in store for Emily today!

The 12 days of Christmas (Day 7) Guest Designer

Hi Everyone!
If you are here from the 12 Days of Christmas Blog hop for the Guest Designer entry ... well, you are in the RIGHT spot!

Thanks so much to Lisa over at Honeybearz Designs for hosting and for having me as a guest!
If this is the first you've heard of this hop, you had better head on over to Lisa's blog to check out today, and the last six days of hops.  She has gathered some absolutely amazing prizes for blog candy.  You certainly DO NOT want to miss out on that!

My project today is a set of cute little Elves that I've paper pieced together using patterns from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs.  I just love her Jolly Little Elves as they are so incredibly different than any others that I have seen out this year.

Merry Christmas to all!

Paper piecing

I've been in a rut lately.
Not feeling all that creative.
Feeling that I do not have the ability to compete with all the wonderful crafters/artists out there selling on ebay or other craft sites.

Perhaps it's because my kids have been sick ... I have been sick ... or the weather has changed to ugliness here in the Pacific Northwest.

So, I'm taking a small step back and trying to find my love for the craft.

I've decided to just focus on some paper piecings this week.  Who knows, hopefully soon I'll have that amazing idea for a layout again .... I hope that feeling comes back soon :)

For now, I'll share my love of Raggedy Ann and Andy with you.
I grew up with a Raggedy Ann doll.  Loved her to pieces!   When Tricia at Little Scraps of Heaven Designs came out with her line of "Raggedy" dolls I just HAD to do SOMETHING with them!

Here is what I did:

In the spirit of Thanksgiving:

In the spirit of Christmas:

Of course, there is the original:

And THEN ... I tried something TOTALLY DIFFERENT!  Something that is a totally different style from what I normall do.  I really enjoyed it!  A lot of love and care went into this Bambi set.  I hope you like it!  I'd love to hear your opinions!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.   All of the above piecings are available on ebay if you have any interest in them.

Now onto my projects for the hop -

If you know me, I have boys. Everything about me is boys. Even the two dogs are boys ... I'm surrounded by them and can't get away :) I must admit that I love it though. Nothing like snuggling with my boys!

Nothing says BOY to me more than Pirates, Cookies, Trains and Smiles ..... for that I'm sharing some of my personal layouts capturing each of these fantastic traits of my little ones.

First, we have PIRATES .... YO HO!

Who could be afraid of this cutie?

What Boy does not like a good homemade cookie? Especially when they get to lick the bowl?????

Now for the TRAINS. This layout is from the year that we first discovered trains. It's been years and my boys have yet to tire of the wonderfully complex world of trains. The more trains around the happier they are. I do not see this fascination ending anytime soon and fully expect it to carry over to adulthood.

And Finally SMILES ... the type of smile that makes you chuckle and your heart melt a little bit.

The kind that you want to capture in a box that you could somehow open every now and then when you need a pick me up.

There are some fabulous project for you to see from Day one of the hop ... If you want to check out Day 1 of the hop CLICK HERE

Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep

Here's a fun layout that I made last week.

I really enjoy doing Nursery Rhyme themes.  They sure bring back some childhood memories.  I even still have my Mother Goose book that I've had forever!

I've used patterns from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs for this layout.

It is available HERE if you are interested in purchasing it.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.
