Little Scraps of Heaven Sketch Challenge

It's Monday ... and that means another challenge over at Little Scraps of Heaven Designs.

This week's challenge is a sketch challenge.  I know I've said it before .. but I like sketch challenges!  I'm always motivated to make a personal layout if I have a sketch to work with... and I did just that this week!

I really love sketch challenges lately!   I really do!!  
How do you feel about sketches?

It really gets me going if I'm in a rut ... if I'm in a rush .. or even if I'm overwhelmed with too many ideas in my head (which happens often).  I love how you can take someones sketch and make it your own.  That no matter what ... two people are always going to interpret the sketch differently and come out with layouts that are dramatically different!  Neat!!!

This week there is a new sketch challenge over at Little Scraps of Heaven's Design team blog.  I hope that you'll consider hopping over there and playing along with us.  There's always a chance for some fabulous files from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs ... who doesn't like a bit of cuteness with their layouts?

Here is my take on the sketch:

This is a layout that I made for a fan of my facebook page, Lisa Pontious at HoneyBearz Designs.  Lisa won a layout of mine JUST for being a fan!   This is the second time I've given away a full page layout.   I've had positive feedback from the winners and think that this is something that I'd like to continue to do with my giveways!

Sketch Challenge at Little Scraps of Heaven Designs

This week we have a new sketch challenge over at Little Scraps of Heaven Designs.
I have to admit that I LOVED this sketch .... but when I sat down to finally work on it I had a hard time figuring out WHAT to put as the picture/theme.

Well, since Saturday was St. Patrick's day I decided to take a picture of two of the three Irish men in my household and capture this day.  The picture is not the best .. sorry about that.  My husband had our good camera this weekend as he was out of town.  I edited my cell phone picture in instagram (an iphone app) and gave it kind of a vintage look.  I thought kraft paper went well with it.

I used the "My Lucky Charm" pattern set to create my layout.

The picture did not turn out that great ... sorry :(  It's very rainy and dark here these days.  The good news is that my husband is working on a picture taking solution for us (he has his own hobby that requires a camera too) and hopefully we'll have it all figured out in a week or so.

CardSketch Challenge at Little Scraps of Heaven Designs

Happy Monday everyone!


I hope that the weekend treated you well.
We received a few inches of snow here .. just outside of Seattle.... and even though I'm a Michigander and should be used to the snow, things are so different here.   Because it does not snow often, we spent the weekend in and out of the house playing with snow, having snowball fights and even making a snowman.  Almost seems unheard of here!   We'll be enjoying it once again today as the boys are off for MLK day.   What are you doing today?  Any crafting?  If you are .. I have an idea for you that will result in a fabulous card AND a chance to win some free files over at Little Scraps of Heaven Designs.


This week we have a CARD Sketch Challenge going on.  I must say that I am L-O-V-I-N' these sketch challenges!  They are a great way to get me to focus on coloring and my piecings rather than placement on cards or layouts.

I added some bakers twine for fun, some jute ribbon and I even made that cute flower with the ribbon and a brad!  The papers that you see are all from DCWV and are the Safari Chic stack.   LOVE IT!

Cute, isn't it?

Well, here is what I did with this sketch.  I really enjoyed getting a personal layout completed with this.  It's a great way to get a kick start on a layout ...

This sweet picture is of my oldest one of his little 'girlfriends'.  They are so cute together and ever since this picture was taken I knew I just HAD to get it on paper.  If you look really close, at the base of the fountain you can see a rainbow.  My picture of the picture does not capture it that great, but it is really an amazing shot that my friend was able to capture with her camera ... a point and shoot no less!  So .. if you don't have a fancy camera, no worries, because with the right lighting you can capture the most amazing of moments too!

For this layout I used a few files from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs

1. Strike a pose - girl

2. Stirke a pose - boy

3. Simple Scalloped shapes.
